- I have but I may have over-reacted. I later found out that Macintosh computers
- were used for some of the effects (mostly texture creation). I may have
- overdone it. Copy of letter follows:
-
- " In reference to your recent article in Entertainment Weekly
- about the TV series "Babylon 5", I would like to point out that the
- Apple macintosh computer is IN NO WAY associated or used in this show's
- production.
-
- Rather, the production crew uses Amiga computers and a 3D
- modeler and renderer called "Lightwave" (one of the software components
- of the well-known Video Toaster system) for the creation of all of the
- show's special effects.
-
- Your article unknowingly hurt the Amiga's reputation - by
- omission of mention - and it also gave your readers the idea that
- such effects can be done on a Macintosh when budget and deadlines
- are a factor. This is, as anyone who owns both a macintosh and an
- Amiga computer knows, just plain wrong.
-
- Your article was otherwise very interesting and I look
- forward to reading more about this TV series in Entertainment
- Weekly.
